To finish off this series on Bathroom Safety Tips we have pulled together some addition tips that we have not included previously for the senior market. We have also included a summary of some previous hints and tips:
1. Postioning of the items you need in the shower or bath area - make sure your towels, soaps, shampoos and conditioners are in easy reach when you are in the shower or coming out of it. Move your shelving to accomodate out-of-reach items.
Thank you all for your kind responses to our latest Bathroom Safety posts - it is great to get positive feedback and know that someone is reading our posts and finding the Bathroom information useful. We have some more useful tips for you as safety should be your No 1 priority in the Bath & Shower area:
1. We mentioned previously how dangerous electricity is in a wet area, following some further research we came across ground - fault circuit interrupters!! Your electrician should know all about them they basically protect you from electric shock if, in the unlikely event, water and electricity should come together.
We read some really interesting statistics on Energy Consumption in the Home and it appears that the Bathroom is the place to start with the biggest offender on energy usage being the Immersion!
The average home in the UK has over 200 appliances - that seems to be a conservative estimate! Anyway the advise is to turn off the immersion when you dont need it or better still install a timer where you set the hours and monitor the savings you make off your next couple of bills.
Never underestimate the importance of a good lighting scheme in your en suite or family bathroom, many of our important daily routines start & end in the bathroom, so why not spend a little money to brighten your dayRead More
